I sat fidgeting with a thread on my sleeve and tried not to make eye contact.
He had a kind voice and was thorough explaining what was going to happen.
He paused and waited for me to nod that I was ready.
His hands were large and moved skillfully.
I focused on a point on the wall and became numb to the pain.
He noticed me jump as I started feeling it again.
"We're almost done," he said.
He finished what he was there to do despite my squirming.
I could tell this was going to be sore for days.
I made it through. Fucking root canals.

Sorry about the root canal, though. Been there, and they suck. My tooth had four branches instead of the usual three -- lucky me!!

It's just NOT FAIR if we can enjoy one kind of pain we should be able to enjoy (or at least tolerate) other types better.

@Erica, Another commonality! It was a big molar so had 4 canals and they had to fuck with all of them.

I had one of those recently. I have never been in so much pain ever in my life. After the injections wore off, I wanted to die.

@Dave Wolfe, Yep, I really had one. It wasn't bad until the end when the numbing stuff was starting to wear off. Guess if I ever need another one, I'll tell them to double the dose!
