Bears And Tops, Part 2

I discovered a fun website tonight called Wordle. It generates word clouds from text that you enter in or in my case, a blog address. Here's the Wordle for Lea's Corner based on the words it picked up the most. The bigger the word, the more it was used. Pretty cool. Tomatoes made the list in the top left which made me laugh. I also liked how vanilla is in white and spanking is in red and that was at random. :-)

Alright, back to the subject at hand. In a previous post, I made a comparison about bears and tops. I was chatting with a friend recently and the subject of Star Wars came up. Chewbacca is bear-ish looking, don't you think? He's always groaning about something and I can never understand him. Seems like a top to me.

He's also not easily persuaded and knows how to take matters into his own hands. And he's fuzzy and could probably give a good hug if he wanted to.

Does anyone remember the game SkiFree? Back in the Windows 95 days it was part of the game pack that was included with practically every new computer, along with Taipei and Solitaire. The premise of it is you control this little skiier guy, navigating yourself through several courses and trying to make jumps, avoid hitting trees, dogs, and the occasional snowboarder. You'd gain points for doing tricks and for not falling down.

The thing that was really frustrating with this game is that it was apparently unwinnable. Once you got to a certain point in the course, this bear/snowmonster dude would appear and eat you. (You knew I was going to get to the top comparison eventually.) Every freaking time. I can't even tell you how many times I used to play this game thinking I'd be able to make it to the end and win but no, here comes the bear and you are dead again. What's that quote? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Damn Skifree.

It kind of reminds me of something else...

Did it ever occur to you that thingy might have been the end of the game? Maybe there was no other end, but to be killed.

Just like with conversations with Tops the end will be a good spanking. For example for comparing Tops with bears.

Just sayin'

Skifree is like a spanking party: you cannot win, it is not fair, and you get killed at the end.

But think about it, Lea! We keep on playing!

Very funny, Lea. Giggles.

Never heard of that game...

Hmmm...seems you like OTK, Hand, Cane and Strap a lot.

Friends are the most important thing to you, according to this.

I can't believe tomatoes made it in there, either.

I disagree about winning at the end. We both win. :)

@Urs, "Maybe there was no other end, but to be killed." Yes, this all sounds a lot like something else...

@joey, HAHA! Ain't that the truth! You sound very familiar with the game.

@Marne, Yes, that's true. That's where the insanity quote comes into play. You read it here first. I am, by definition, insane.

@bree, Yes sometimes we both win. But I don't always like admitting to that part. ;-)

Ooh, I like that Wordle idea. Going to check it out. I remember Ski Free...yes, one did always die. I think I blocked it out of my memory!

Very cool find! We're going to try it... though we kinda know what work will be biggest... ;)

@Susie, I don't understand why people create games that you can't win! It's so frustrating!

@Todd and Suzy, I thought it was funny that "really" was as big a word as "spanking" on mine. Didn't think I said it that much. And I expected "lol" to be HUGE. It'll be interesting to see how yours looks.

The wordle thing is really cool! And no, I do not recall that game, but the motherfucker looks pretty mean!

And you're right -- Tops are very much like Chewbacca, making no sense! ;)

@ronnie, it's pretty cool! I've been playing around with it the last few days.

@sarah, If you want to get really frustrated, just Google Skifree, there's a free download available. I hope tops and Chewbacca can't read this post. Hehe.

Okay I've just noticed a glaring error in the Wordle. I searched the whole thing and "Peeps" does not appear once. Can you believe that? I wonder how far back in time it goes when it's created. Hmm...

Love that Wordle thing - great link.

Ah SkiFree. I used to dream about that monster. As a youngin I used to call it a dinosaur.

@Lea, Haha, it's kind of hard to tell what he's supposed to be.
